Batu Bara Regency, a newly formed region, is rapidly developing its infrastructure to support regional growth. As a result, the Public Works Department (PU) has become a crucial division in the development process. However, a fundamental question arises: Does working pressure (Job Stressor) and work conflict have a significant influence on the performance of the Coal Regency Public Works Department employee?
The Public Works Department plays a vital role in the development of Batu Bara Regency, and its employees are the backbone of this process. However, the department faces numerous challenges, including working pressure and work conflict, which can significantly impact employee performance. This study aims to investigate the effect of job stressors and work conflict on the performance of the Coal Regency Public Works Department employees.
Literature Review
The theory of human resource management and organizational behavior is closely related to job stressors, conflict, and employee performance. Job stressors refer to factors that cause stress and pressure on employees, such as excessive workload, time pressure, lack of support from superiors, and unclear roles. Results
The results of this study showed that together, job stressors and work conflict had a significant influence on employee performance. Partially, job stressors and work conflict also had a negative and significant influence on performance. Interestingly, the influence of job stressors on employee performance is more dominant than work conflicts.
Discussion
The results of this study have important implications for the management of the Coal Regency Public Works Office. Understanding the factors that affect employee performance, especially job stressors and work conflict, is the first step to improve performance and productivity. The study's findings suggest that job stressors have a more significant impact on employee performance than work conflict.
