However, this research only took part of the population as a sample with purposive sampling technique. Qualitative research methods were applied by collecting data through interviews, questionnaires, and documentation from related parties. Furthermore, the data obtained was analyzed and tabulated to draw conclusions.

Results

The results of the data analysis show that the restaurant tax contribution to Karo Regency PAD is relatively small compared to other taxes. Data over the past two years (2017-2018) showed a restaurant tax contribution of Rp. 3,371,503,800 in 2017 and Rp. 4,173,179,435 in 2018. The low contribution of this restaurant tax can be associated with several factors.

Third, developing the potential of the tourism sector in Karo Regency to increase the number of tourists and income from restaurant taxes.

Conclusion

Through these steps, the contribution of restaurant taxes to Karo Regency PAD can be increased, thus supporting sustainable regional development. The findings of this study highlight the importance of increasing socialization and education, strengthening the supervision and law enforcement system, and developing the potential of the tourism sector in Karo Regency. By implementing these strategies, Karo Regency can increase its income from restaurant taxes and optimize its regional development.
