Introduction
Heat polymerization acrylic resin is the most commonly used material for making dentures. Despite its numerous benefits, this material still has several weaknesses, particularly in terms of its mechanical properties, such as low impact and transverse strength. This weakness causes the base of the denture to easily experience fractures, both due to occlusal loads in the mouth and collisions when falling. To overcome this problem, various efforts have been made, one of which is to add reinforcement materials, such as zirconium oxide and polypropylene fiber. This study aims to explore the effect of the addition of 5% ZRO2 nanoparticles and a small 2% polypropylene fiber (12 mm) on the strength of the impact and transverse the base of the heated acrylic dentures.

Denture resin acrylic heat polymerization is a widely used material in dentistry due to its ease of use, low cost, and good aesthetic properties. However, this material has several weaknesses, particularly in terms of its mechanical properties. Methodology
In this study, the design used was laboratory experiments, with a sample size of 80 mm x 10 mm x 4 mm for the impact strength test and 65 mm x 10 mm x 2.5 mm for the transverse strength test. In total, there were 60 samples used, with 30 samples for the impact strength test and 30 samples for transverse strength tests. The results showed a significant difference in the strength of the impact and transversal between the RAPP group without the addition of reinforcing materials and groups with the addition of 5% ZRO2 nanoparticles (p = 0,0001) and groups with the addition of 2% polypropylene fibers (p = 0,0001).
Results
The results of this study showed that the addition of 5% ZRO2 nanoparticles and 2% polypropylene fibers significantly improved the impact and transverse strength of the denture resin acrylic heat polymerization. The average impact and transverse strength in the RAPP group with the addition of 5% ZRO2 nanoparticles was significantly higher than the control group, and was also better than the RAPP group with the addition of 2% polypropylene fiber. This shows that the addition of zirconium oxide has a more significant effect on increasing the mechanical properties of the material than just by adding polypropylene fibers.

The results of this study demonstrate the importance of adding reinforcement materials to denture resin acrylic heat polymerization to improve its mechanical properties.
